IT WAS a purr-fect day for dozens of cat lovers at the weekend as felines preaned their fur and strutted their stuff at the South Ribble Pet Cat Club show.
More than 60 moggies entered the non-pedigree show, held at Worden High School, Westfield Drive, Leyland, where they were judged on personality, condition and pre-show preparation.
But there could only be one ultimate 'best in show' winner and the award went to three-year-old Charlie, owned by Sandra McHugo, from Wales. The black and white moggie also won the 'best adult' catagory.
In the 'best junior' section the judges could not resist the cute charm of a ten-and-a-half month old, tortoise shell and white cat, called Lucinda, owned by Cath Jackson, of Ribbleton, Preston.
While the prize for the 'best kitten' went to a five month old, ginger and white cat, called Harry, owned by Natasha Burrows, from Farington, Leyland. The owner also took along a second cat named Tess who picked up two awards.
On the day the show's mascot, Tanya, a 15 year old cat, accompanied the show's organisers Vicky Pearson and Carol Walker.
The white, long-haired moggie was the inspiration behind the start of the annual cat show in 1994.
Cat enthusiasts were also treated to a host of stalls, including a tombola and raffle, and the fund-raiser pulled in about £1,000 for the charity which helps cats in need.
