RADCLIFFE Athletics Club's youngsters stunned their elders in the annual Heaton Park Relays.
The competition gives each club's faster runners a chance to prove their worth while allowing all runners to enjoy the afternoon's racing.
Radcliffe entered two mens teams, two senior ladies and a team of junior girls, who finished in an impressive ninth place - one ahead of the senior ladies.
Craig Lutener laid a solid base for the men with a good opening lap of 19.44, followed in by the B team's Mark Emmett in 20.31.
Rachel Howard sounded the first warning shot with 26.13 opening a 19-second gap on Eileen Sharman. Glenda Garry brought the third ladies team home in 27.38.
On lap two Adrian Harris continued his good form and was eighth fastest veteran on the day, running Radcliffe's best time of 18.04, while Arthur Warren put in a lap of 20.45 to hold the B team steady.
Meanwhile, Dawn Warriner took the reigns for the juniors and did some real damage with a time of 24.56 compared to Eileen Royle's 27.03. Linda McDonagh emphasised Warriner's excellent time by only managing 28.17 herself.
Lyndsay Agg brought the juniors home in 22.39, while Carly Hancock restored a little respectability with a good 21.47. Kirsty Weir brought the thirds home in 26.27.
Mike Howard's 18.42 kept Radcliffe mens team in 12th position, while Brian Booth notched 21.08 to keep the B team competitive.
And, on the final lap, Danny Appleby set the club's second fastest run of the day in 18.21, securing a strong 12th place finish, while Steve Hamer's 21.06 landed 22nd place for the B team.
