TAKE some of the biggest names from the 60s, one of the most successful girl groups of all time and a first-rate band of musicians and you have the basis for a great night out.

Reelinandarockin comes to Preston Guild Hall on Thursday (February 27), bringing with it a night of nostalgia.

Lining up on the same stage will be Gerry Marsden, The Nolans, Dave Berry, Brian Poole, Mike d'Abo from Manfred Mann and Mike Pender of The Searchers.

Dave, who has been in the business for over 40 years and is remembered for such top 10 hits as The Crying Game and Mama, said: "It's the second tour I've been involved in like this and it's such great fun. It's just like playing with a bunch of mates.

"The first tour I ever went on was with Mike Pender and Brian Poole and here we are on the road again. It's a real laugh.

"Many artists don't enjoy touring but we all stay in the same hotel and meet up after a show, it's a really good atmosphere."

As well as singing their own hits, the stars of Reelinandarockin tackle some of the best songs from the rock and roll era and also share the stage with each other.

"It's very similar to the old blues reviews there used to be in the 50s when the band would stay on stage and vocalists would come out and sing with them," said Dave.

Clearly it's a format which the crowds love.

"We do get a very mixed audience," he said," although they are mainly from the generation which grew up during the 60s. But we get their children coming along who had our music playing in the house when they grew up."

Dave has just signed a new record deal with Blues Matters Records and will soon have an album out featuring 12 cover versions.

"I have taken some of my favourites artists and recorded some of their less obvious songs," he said.
