A YOUNG Tower Circus fan is set to take over as master of the ring for a day after a Citizen report earned him a spot in a top international kids magazine.

Little Alex Callaghan, 9, from Heywood near Rochdale, has wanted to become a clown since the tender age of three.

He has been a dedicated follower of the top Blackpool tourist attraction for the last four years forming an unlikely friendship with its star red-nosed joker, Mooky the Clown.

Now Alex's fixation with circus life will be featured in an article by the UK Disney Magazine following a Citizen report detailing how Mooky was coaching his young friend to circus stardom.

Alex will be pictured in the Tower's big top showing off the clowning and acrobatic skills picked-up during his time at Rochdale's Skylight Circus School, including unicycle-riding, juggling, spinning plates and lying on a bed of nails.

Alex's proud mum Susan, 31, says the youngster cannot wait to show off his talents.

She said: "Alex is absolutely over the moon about getting the entire tower ring to himself during the photo-shoot.

"Aspiring to become a clown and following the circus has given him so much confidence.

"I'm really excited for him because this is a great opportunity for Alex to show-off his skills at such a young age.

"He's already got a wealth of tricks and acrobatic techniques that he can perform without blinking.

"It's going to be impossible to drag him out of the ring once he gets going.

"Mooky had better watch out.

"The poor clown is going to come back from Belgium and find he has a co-star in his dressing-room!"
