NELSON manager Denis Underwood has called for the result of his side's game at home to Oldham Town in midweek - which they were winning 1-0 when the game was abandoned after 80 minutes - to stand.

The Blues' Victoria Park ground was frozen and the referee called the game off due to safety reasons.

A NWCL management committee will decide whether the result will stand.

"I don't know why he didn't just play the last 10 minutes," said Underwood.

"This kind of thing has happened before and I am told the games do get replayed.

"But he had played 90 per cent and when I asked him about it he said 'Why are you bothered, you'll get the points' but I don't think we will.

"If we have to replay it we have to replay it, it is no gib deal but I just can't understand why he couldn't just play the last 10 minutes."

Nelson travel to Norton tomorrow and Underwood denied he was struggling to name a team.

"The problem we have is the players I want don't want to leave the clubs they are with until the summer. That is fine for a proven North West Counties League player but some of these lads are in the local leagues and I need to see them this season so I can tell them whether they are good enough."
