PETER Cavanagh is hoping to retake his place in Accrington Stanley's starting line-up this afternoon.

But the 21-year-old, who has just completed a three match ban after picking up 10 bookings, will be hoping to avoid chairman Eric Whalley when Stanley travel to Worksop Town this afternoon.

For Cavanagh bet his chairman that he wouldn't be brandished more than eight yellow cards this season.

"I only bet him £20 though because I wasn't too confident I could do it," he confessed.

"I haven't paid him yet but I'll doubt he'll have forgotten. Eric never forgets about money!"

But the right back must concentrate on his game before his wallet as he bids to remove Paul Howarth from the starting line-up.

"Paul came in while I was suspended and did really well, but he was suspended for the reserve game last week, which I played in.

"So I'm hoping I did enough last week to get my place back in the side.

"But the manager likes to keep us on his toes and doesn't read out the teams until Saturday.

"So I'll be worried about it until I hear my name.

"But it's healthy that we are all fighting for places because it's competition for the squad and will hopefully stand us in good stead for the run-in."

Cavanagh, who picked up his 10th caution of the season in the 5-0 home win against Marine on January 18, added that he hoped that would be his last booking of the season.

"I'll get another ban if I get to 15, but hopefully I won't get any more now," he said.

"But I couldn't honestly say that any of the ones I've picked up have been for a bad foul. They've been mainly obstruction or pulling people's shirts.

"The only good thing to come out of the ban was that it's given me the chance to get to the gym and get fit for a comeback."
