HOW dare P. Kaiserman (Your Letters, Feb 7) compare our plight during the Second World War with what are, in effect, "economic migrants"?

My family fled from persecution and we came to this great country for refuge. We asked for nothing, and expected nothing. We conformed to the British way of life, and respected the law of the land. We had to work, and we never asked for any help.

To compare asylum-seekers with the Jews fleeing Nazi Germany is a great insult, and Mr Kaiserman should know that. I feel he is at best naive; at worst misleading.
