BURY Council seem to think that a council tax rise of between 6.2 per cent and 12.2 per cent is just and fair. It is not. And what's more, we have had enough of these above inflation rises in the last few years.
What we want is a maximum rise of 2.7 per cent, measure against the Retail Price Index, which in still too much for the elderly, single income and fixed income people.
If more pay is needed for local authority workers, then cuts must be made. We want services to be improved from town hall efficiencies and not from that "black hole" known as the ratepayers' pocket!
Our councillors know it can be done, so why not do it now! We have had enough.
