REGARDING the £1million scheme to breathe new life into rundown areas of Hyndburn (LET, February 13), this has to be a joke.
The first step should be to upgrade the existing housing in Church and Spring Hill. Money needs to be spent on improving, renovating, and putting the life back into the terrace houses where the old and the young live.
A few trees, exercise paths and allotments will last a couple of years before they are left to deteriorate, or are destroyed by vandalism.
Improving houses (externally or internally) will benefit those who live in the district and not see the money frittered away on landscaping, etc.
