COUNCILLOR Paul McGurty (Letters, January 21) would appear to be confused by the word 'immigrants,' as he suggests that virtually every person in the country would be booking a flight back 'home' if they weren't 100 per cent English.
My thought is that if home is considered to be somewhere other than Britain, then perhaps they should go. As for Mr McGurty's accusation that I am using pensioners in order to appear sensitive to a particular problem, how can he come to this conclusion? I can assure him that much of my support comes from pensioners. I wonder why?
Coun McGurty has jumped on the bandwagon with the bogus asylum-seekers issue. The hard truth of the matter is that hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants are setting their sights on Britain, under the guise of asylum.
Britain is seen as a soft touch and, frankly, it is. The British people have the likes of Coun McGurty and the other sheep-like representatives to thank for this. It would appear that he and your colleagues have been silent for too long.
COUN ROBIN EVANS (British National Party), Blackburn with Darwen Council.
