A JUDGE has called for psychological reports on a 34-year-old man who admitted two charges of abducting a 15-year-old girl.

Recorder Robert Warnock said he wants an expert to assess if Andrew Thornton was a danger to the girl, if he was a danger to children generally, and to look at the defendant's insight into the inappropriateness of the relationship. Thornton, of Midgeley Street, Colne, was remanded in custody until March 21.

The judge, said he was "surprised" over what appeared to be the attitude of the local authority, and said he was concerned that in interview the defendant had stated he would continue to see the child.

Tim Storrie, defending, told the court Thornton stated he was not mentally ill, nor did he accept he was under the suspicion of being mentally ill. He had been in custody for five months and now wanted no more to do with the girl or her family.
