ACTION to tackle anti-social behaviour and poor housing were two of the areas which were highlighted during a public consultation in Pendle.
Colne resident Chris Chambers, gave his views on how Pendle's community could be improved as part of a wide-scale consultation to draw up Pendle's first community strategy and won £50-worth of vouchers for his effort.
He also suggested police should ride on bikes or on foot to help tackle crime and asked for more traffic wardens to help curb illegal parking in Pendle.
Included in his list of positive points were the borough's inexpensive housing, great schools and racial harmony.
He won the Farmers Market vouchers after his questionnaire was placed in a prize draw.
His views, together with views from people across the borough, will be used to inform Pendle's Community Strategy, now being prepared and which will be launched in June.
The strategy has eight key themes, including encouraging confident communities, providing a great environment, providing opportunities for people to make a good living, helping people achieve the best they can, helping residents feel safer, having quality housing stock, being healthier and having fun. Mr Chambers said: "I was surprised when I heard that I had won. I didn't really think that anyone was listening or would even read my views."
The county council's district partnership officer for Pendle Jackie Mason, said: "It is important that local people have their voice heard.
"This consultation is nearly complete and people from all over the borough have had the opportunity to take part.
"Mr Chambers responded to just one part of the consultations in Pendle. He took part because he realised how important it is for everyone to express their views on the strategy which is being drawn up."
