A DRIVER from Blackburn had to be cut free from his car by firefighters after crashing head-on into a wall in Scarisbrick.
Michael Nuttall, 28, from Mosley Street was driving a Vauxhall Cavalier along the A570 in Southport Road towards Southport at 3.55am on Saturday.
Two fire crews from Ormskirk took 45 minutes to cut the driver free.
Police said all six people in the car were injured when the driver lost control and hit a wall near the Morris Dancer pub at the junction of Southport Road and Bescar Brow Lane
Back seat passenger, Christine Wilkinson, 27, from the Bonds area of Banks was admitted to Southport Hospital with serious head injuries. Mr Nuttal was treated at the hospital for a fractured pelvis.
The other passengers received treatment for bruising and minor fractures.
Inspector Stephen Chapman of Lancashire Police said: "The conditions were freezing and foggy but there was no ice. It's a fast road and a countryside route from Ormskirk to Southport. It's not a bad place for accidents but there are a few every now and again."
