A 57-YEAR-OLD man has died after being injured in an accident with a van in Leigh.
The pedestrian was crossing Wigan Road just after 10pm on Saturday when he was hurt in a collision with a Citroen Berlingo near to the junction with Tinkersfield.
He suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan where he died a short time later.
The van driver, a 45-year-old from St Helens, was not injured.
Traffic police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information should call Wigan Traffic Unit on 0161 856 7274.
