IAN Moore admitted to being something of a reluctant hero after he netted the crucial early goal against Derby County on Saturday.
But having been on the bench for the big televised Cup games against Manchester United and Spurs, he is just desperate to make it third time lucky against Fulham on Wednesday night.
The striker was once again handed a right wing role by manager Stan Ternent, and he admitted: "I have been supporting Gareth Taylor from wide on the right, looking to get on the far post.
"I have always said that I prefer to play up front but at the moment I am doing okay out there. I scored one and I might have got another in the second half. I was a bit disappointed because I should have taken it first time with my right foot."
Moore has been pressed into his new role because of the injury that has kept Glen Little out of the side and he is now hoping the manger will keep faith with the players who have done so well in the last couple of games.
"He could keep the same team and I really want to play, it is a massive game for us," he said. "It is 20 years since the club has made it to the quarter-finals and, while it will be difficult, everyone is up for it.
"We will all be watching Fulham play Spurs tonight and then they will travel up tomorrow.
"Hopefully they will be tired but the most important thing is that we prepare well for it."
Moore's pace could certainly be a key factor and having notched his ninth goal of the season at the weekend, there would be no better time for him to get into double figures than on Wednesday night at Turf Moor.
And if he is again playing wide, Ternent knows he will be an ever willing worker.
