A MAN who slashed a man on the neck and headbutted him in a nightclub has been jailed for two years.

Ronald McLachlan later held a knife to a man's throat in a nearby restaurant and waved the weapon towards customers. But Preston Crown Court heard he had no recollection of events due to a combination of cocaine and drink.

The 44-year-old of Westbury Gardens, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding, affray and possessing an offensive weapon.

The wounding victim was Paul Willacy, 20, who was attacked in Jumpin' Jacks nightclub, Blackburn, last December.

Richard Haworth, prosecuting, said Mr Willacy lunged at Willacy in the club's toilets, who recognised him. Willacy then felt a stinging in his neck which started pouring blood.

McLachlan left but went back into the toilets and headbutted Mr Willacy, who had a deep neck cut that needed stitches. The defendant then went to the Divine Cuisine restaurant where he put a black handled knife to the throat of a man, added Mr Haworth.

Kevin Talbot, defending, said McLachlan was an amphetamine addict in the past. Six months before the offences he was introduced to crack cocaine. He told the court "While it is right to say he had had three hits of cocaine before going out that night, his daily consumption was in the order of six to eight hits."
