RAMSBOTTOM have now won three of the last four league games as they fight to get out of the drop zone in NWCL Division One.

Winsford opened the scoring in the second minute through Paul Lamb who casually slotted past Marsh after being left unmarked at the back post.

And they were two up two minutes later when Lamb again scored, with a looping header after a cross from Heywood.

Earlier this season heads would have gone down but the management team of Andy Grimshaw and Jimmy Clarke have now got a bunch of determined and honest players and it did not take them long to claw their way back into the game.

Glyn Barker had a good effort turned round the post by Robertson, then a cross from Fitton flew across the six-yard box with three players unable to get a touch.

The goal finally came on 26 minutes. Dave Gardner, back in the side after injury, turned the ball into the net from close range.

The Rams went close again in the 29th minute, Fitton's curling effort narrowly going over the bar after good work by Gardner.

The Rams were well on top and the midfield, Doni Clarke in particular, dominated the game.

Winsford had a lucky escape on 36 minutes when keeper Robertson completely missed Rob Morris' back pass but luckily for them it went the right side of the upright.

The Rams continued to press and it paid dividends on 42 minutes. Liam Bowden toe-poked the ball into the net for the equaliser, and it was no more than the Rams deserved.

The second half started with the Rams instantly on the attack and Dave Gardner went close with a header.

On the hour Winsford won a penalty for handball against Liam Bowden but Marsh pulled off a great save diving to his left.

The Rams finally took the lead on 72 minutes when Barker played in Gareth Gardner and the speedy winger rounded Robertson and coolly knocked the ball into the empty net.

It was now becoming one-way traffic and the Rams deservedly grabbed their fourth on 86 minutes. A corner taken by Chris Clarke resulted in a goalmouth scramble, the ball broke loose to Mark Fitton and he fired into the net.

The Rams wrapped the game up in the 89th minute through Barker who latched onto a pinpoint cross from Matt Raywood.

This was a very gutsy and at times skilful performance by the Rams.

The Rams' next game is at home tomorrow against Glossop North End, kick off 7.45pm.
