SCHOOL REPORT: Chatburn CE is very much a village school at the heart of the community.
The school aims to provide a secure, friendly atmosphere in which pupils regardless of ability or aptitude are encouraged to do their best.
PRESENT PUPILS: There are just over one hundred pupils in the school making it small enough to have a family atmosphere but large enough to provide the full resources to cover the Primary curriculum. Pupils come from Chatburn and surrounding villages with a number travelling out from the nearby town of Clitheroe.
HISTORY LESSON: The school was established over one hundred and fifty years ago and maintains traditional values of hard work and consideration for others in a modern setting that includes recently extended classrooms and a purpose built computer suite.
STAR PUPILS: All pupils are treated as potential stars. The positive ethos of the school celebrates success by pupils in learning, sport and caring for others.
OUT AND ABOUT: Thanks to a dedicated and hard working staff activities run by the school include choir, guitars, French, volleyball, netball and football. There is also a thriving pre-school and Out of Hours Club that cares for pupils before and after the school day.
SOMETHING TO BRAG ABOUT: The school is very proud of the compliments paid by visitors not least the last team of school inspectors. Ofsted gave the school a glowing report and awarded a triple A rating.
WHAT ABOUT THE PARENTS: Parents are seen as a vital part of the school's success. They raise money for the school and help out in lessons. The parents positive vies of the school is reflected in the survey conducted during the last school inspection.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH A £100,000 WINDFALL?: We would create a new school library as all our new computers mean there is less room for books.
