HAKAN Sukur's proposed comeback against Manchester City could be a game too soon.

Rovers manager Graeme Souness initially hoped the Turkish international would be fit in time for Saturday's clash at Ewood.

But heavy frost meant the striker, who is recovering from a broken leg and double hernia operation, missed to vital days of training last week.

Rovers chief executive John Williams said the former Galatasaray hitman was making good progress after returning to full training but added: "Saturday might be a game too early for him, but it's not been ruled out completely.

"He lost as couple of days training last week with the frost, and it was at a crucial point where every day was important.

"It was hoped he might be able to be on the bench on Saturday but, while he's doing well and is very close to full fitness, that's looking less likely."
