THOUSANDS of pounds of jewellery has been stolen in an attack on a house in Penwortham that left a teenager with a broken leg.
Two men are believed to have stolen items worth £20,000 meant for a young Asian girl's wedding dowry, including a laptop computer, jewellery and cash.
During the raid, on a home in Margaret Road, the 19-year-old girl was forced to jump out of her first-floor bedroom window to escape, breaking her leg. She is currently in Royal Preston Hospital.
The men broke into the house on Friday, February 21, through a back door and demanded the money.
Detective Constable Dave Watkinson, of Penwortham police, said: "This is a serious robbery. A young girl was injured after jumping from her bedroom window, and there was a pregnant lady in the house at the same time.
"We are asking people who might have been offered this jewellery to come forward."
One of the thieves was Asian, the other white. The Asian man was in his twenties, 5ft 5 to 5ft 7ins tall, with short black hair, a moustache and beard. He was wearing a dark hooded top with a red shirt underneath, green trousers and looked scruffy.
The other thief was 5ft 10ins tall, stocky, athletic build, with short brown hair, wearing jeans and trainers.
Anybody who can help should call Preston police on 203203.
