DARWEN residents are invited to take part in a new service to provide shopping trips for elderly people.
Age Concern in Darwen is in need of volunteers to provide support to older people in the new service being tried out in partnership with Blackburn with Darwen Council's social services department.
The scheme will initially last ten weeks and volunteers will be required to escort people to and from a supermarket in a minibus and to offer assistance in the store.
Those involved will have refreshments provided.
The shopping trips will take place on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 11am to 2.30pm. No experience is necessary as training will be provided. Out of pocket expenses are paid.
