PETER Wareing of Walk Mill is in his final weeks of training for the London Marathon.
He is running on April 13, to raise money for Chorley's Derian House Children's Hospice and hopes to get as many sponsors as possible.

RESIDENTS of Myrtle Grove were concerned about the impact of a proposed extension at a property. The council assured them that it would take their views into account when considering the application. A representative from Burnley planning department will be asked to view the site, along with residents, to be made fully aware of their worries that it is not suitable for use as childminding facilities because of restricted access.
A RESIDENT in Burnley Road objected to the Parish Council's handling of a recent complaint regarding land opposite the Gordon Lennox pub and queried whether the council had acted within guidelines.
It was confirmed that the council had dealt with the matter in a proper way and the resident was told the Lancashire Association of Parish and Town Councils could be approached if desired.

THE February meeting of Cliviger Parish Council was held at the Village Hall, Holme. A number of residents attended the meeting. Some residents of Red Lees Road voiced their concern regarding objections raised to the Burnley Borough Development Plan in relation to land which is centred on The Hollins, and other land which is believed to form part of Cliviger Laithe Farm. The council stressed its support for the Development Plan in respect of rural areas.
