A NELSON couple have each been jailed for drug offences after being snared by an undercover police operation to crack down on street level drug dealing.
Preston Crown court was told that Adrian Cassidy and Lesley Freeston were caught following Operation Nimrod.
Cassidy, 35, of Oxford Road, Nelson, pleaded guilty to three offences of supplying heroin to undercover police officers and one of offering to supply.
Freeston, 42, of the same address admitted offering to supply heroin and two offences of supplying.
Cassidy was jailed for three years and four months and Freeston for three years.
Richard Taylor, defending, said Freeston had no previous convictions for drug misuse and had not been in trouble for three years.
Her ex husband had been violent to her and introduced her to drugs. She had been taking methadone for the last 17 years.
Cassidy became involved in drugs because of his tragic up bringing and had been involved with drugs since the age of 14.
