THERE were a couple of anomalies in your report about the development of flats off Free Lane, Helmshore.
It is not a derelict mill site. Porrit's mill was further up Sunnybank Road -- a site on which Hurstwood Developments have already built. This site is where the settlement tanks were situated.
The people of Helmshore Village do not want this development. We have already nearly 200 signatures against it.
It will lead to an increase in traffic volume. Some of the proposed apartments are four-bedroom ones and at least 100 cars will be entering Sunnybank Road on to the new estate over a newly-built bridge over Alden Brook and will cause Sunnyband Road to resemble a mini-motorway.
From a health and safety point of view, could a fire engine or ambulance have easy access on to the estate in an emergency?
Sunnybank Close is a cul-de-sac, the residents would be in dire straits if Sunnybank Road was congested.
MAVIS STOREY, Sunnybank Close, Helmshore.
