ROVERS Under 17s picked up an excellent point following a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Manchester United at the weekend.
Ian Miller's side surged into a first half lead when Clark Walsh powered home a header from a cross.
United then struck back to equalise before half-time but neither side could fashion a winner in a tense second half.
Rovers' Under 19 game with Nottingham Forest at Brockhall also finished all square on Saturday.
Forest just edged a keenly contested first half and took a 1-0 lead into the break.
But Rovers refused to throw in the towel and their brave second half fightback was rewarded when Gary Harkins grabbed a deserved equaliser with a great strike from a free kick.
Meanwhile, the Under 17s were also in action yesterday and they boosted their hopes of a strong finish to the season with a 2-0 home win over Everton.
A first half goal from Tarek Sakali put them in command and they continued to carve out a host of chances after the break before Joe Garner finally put the seal on another excellent performance with a well-taken second.
