POLICE have sounded a warning after a Hell's Angel gave his home a potentially offensive name.

But today 55-year-old Ken Sutch has said that anyone who is offended by what he has done has a "dirty mind."

Mr Sutch has been a resident of Hill Street, Accrington, for 18 months after moving from Bacup.

It was then he decided to give his home a name and had the sign made.

The drum-playing Hell's Angel, who owns two Harley Davidson motorbikes, said that he has had no complaints from anyone since it was put up.

And he said he has seen people passing the house laughing at the sign.

But Det Insp Pete Broome of Accrington CID said: "We are aware of what this man has done and there is no denying that the name could be offensive in its pronunciation.

"It is a very unusual name and not one I personally would recommend to other house owners. Nor is it a name I would choose to speak in anything resembling polite company.

"I would not advise other house owners to do anything of a similar nature, or they could find themselves on the receiving end of a complaint which would lead to an investigation.

"Potentially a prosecution could arise under the Public Order Act or the Obscene Publications Act.

"In my view it is obscene and if anybody complained we would have to look into it."

Mr Sutch said: "People think its hilarious, there is nothing obscene about it. People who pass by the house laugh they think its a joke, that's fine.

"Its not obscene. If people think it's obscene it's their dirty minds.

"This is my sense of humour. No one has caused any problems. I get on with everybody."

As well as having an unusual name for his house Mr Sutch has two gravestones in his front garden, one adorned with the numbers 666, which mark the place where two of his budgies are buried.

He also has gnomes baring their backsides, and a scattering of fake skulls, but he said all of these were just part of who he was.

Mr Sutch, who is originally from Wigan, said: "This is my sense of humour. No one has caused any problems.

"I play drums -- no one complains, I have three motorbikes and no one complains.

"Everyone just keeps themselves to themselves around here. I have gnomes here showing their behinds.

"I have gravestones for my two budgies in my front garden. But I still I talk to my neighbours on both sides. I'm a member of the Hell's Angels but I don't bring them down here. I keep myself to myself and get on with my life."
