BURNLEY earned a point at Millwall but Stan Ternent knows they will need to play better than they did last night if the FA Cup dream is to stay alive.

"That was not one of our best performances and we will have to be a lot better on Sunday if we are going to go through," he admitted. "But I promise that we will be.

"We looked a little tired and little leggy but that is only to be expected. We controlled the game in the first half and could have had two or three goals but in the second half there was a lot of pressure on.

"But we hung on in there and we need a couple of days rest now before we come down to Watford on Sunday. The galling thing is the league is our priority."

Ternent had been true to his word and played what has been his strongest side in the past few games, unchanged for the fifth straight match.

In stark contrast Watford manager Ray Lewington opted to make six changes to his side, resting key men like skipper Neil Cox.

Clarets leading scorer Gareth Taylor backed his manager's decision to prioritise the league game as he said: "No one wanted to have a rest. The team is doing well, we had great wins against Fulham and Stoke and no one wanted to be left out.

"I think there were a lot of tired legs out there but we have now got a couple of days break and we will definitely be up for the game on Sunday."

Lions manager Mark McGhee is expecting the clash with Watford to be a tight affair that might well need a replay to separate the sides.

"We beat Watford well (4-0) but I think we got them on a bad day like when Rotherham, Walsall and Portsmouth played us," he said. "I think they are better than they showed.

"The match will be a typical first division game with a lot of industrial play. The stakes are very high, it will be very close and I see it going to two games."
