PRESTON pulled themselves up the league for the first time this year as they completed a double-header of away wins in the space of four days.
Watford certainly helped Preston on their way to 15th place, with defender Sean Dyche especially to thank.
He was sent off for two bookable offences and was the player to blame for the penalty which put Preston in front.
He brought down Chris Lucketti and was carded in the 13th minute and was given his marching orders before half time when he went in with a hefty challenge on Preston keeper Jonathan Gould - an outragous move which prompted a 16-man stand off on the pitch.
Alexander may not have had the best of seasons, but the force with which he hit his penalty kick shows he doesn't lack confidence there.
Watford striker Jason Norville had a great chance to pull back after 27 minutes but squandered his effort six yards out.
Preston then used their extra man to grab possession in the game but struggled to make chances.
Marlon Broomes came closest to doubling North End's lead early in the second half when his 25 yard drive was tipped over by Richard Lee.
Lewis then had his close range effort saved by Lee.
