THE proposed conversion of a grade two listed country house into a restaurant and conference suite looks set to get the go-ahead.
A plan by Leehand Properties, of Blackburn, to restore derelict Stanley House in Mellor was put on hold so that councillors could view the property.
The restoration will include the conversion of two barns at the site into 12 en-suite bedrooms, a restaurant, function suite and 150 car parking spaces.
Mellor Parish Council has welcomed the restoration but expressed concern about access from Preston New Road, near Mire Ash Brow.
Parish council chairman Noel Walsh said: "The house is in a terrible state and needs something doing to it, but while the scheme will provide employment, it will also generate problems. We find access to the site inadequate and inappropriate."
The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings is also concerned about the deterioration of the property.
The matter comes beforeRibble Valley planning and development committee tonight.
