HOW can Burnley's MP Peter Pike turn against the town's elected representatives by tabling questions in the House regarding the building of a Jobcentre in a prime retail spot, which was turned down by the planners.
We do not need a Jobcentre in a prime location, we need shops. We also need buildings that do not close at 4pm and therefore create a ghost centre.
There is a perfectly good piece of land the other side of the canal in Plumbe Street, behind the Burnley League Club, which would be perfect for this building. Not only would it be in a high-unemployment area, but it would also help to breathe some life into a forgotten and neglected area and could help kick-start some of the shops etc which are closing down.
