WHAT Church Street, Blackburn, needs is colour. The ugly Pavilions buildings should be demolished and in their place, to give a better view of the Cathedral, why not have a garden area, with bushes and flowers for people to admire.
The landscape gardeners have made Barbara Castle Way lovely. If they could only make that side of Church Street blend with the Cathedral it would give real pleasure.
I am 88 and have seen lots of changes to Blackburn. We have a good shopping precinct all under cover and good cafes, but when I look at Church Street with all these concrete balls, I ask what good are they. And the sculptures? I doubt whether they will hold any interest for long as Blackburn is no longer a cotton town.
