IN reply to Alexander Gordon (Letters, February 28), regarding Darwen Health Centre, to set the record straight, the health chiefs and councillors have not got together to call a public meeting.
The meeting, at Darwen Leisure Centre on Saturday, March 15, is being called by the council's health scrutiny committee whose remit is to scrutinise health issues.
The councillors on this committee are concerned about the public's worries regarding the siting of the new health centre and we have decided to scrutinise the issue.
This will be an official scrutiny meeting, which is open to the public. Evidence will be taken from the Primary Care Trust regarding the siting of the health centre, as well as from other interested bodies.
Once all the evidence has been collected and discussed by the scrutiny committee, a report with any recommendations will then be published.
COUN DEREK HARDMAN (Vice-chairman, Health Scrutiny
Committee, Blackburn with Darwen
Council), Victoria Avenue, Cherry Tree, Blackburn.
