I NOTICE that yet again traffic is to be routed through Church Street in Blackburn for three nights each week for four weeks.
I also notice that this is for work on Darwen Street, but only the stretch from Jubilee Street to George Street.
Why, oh why, cannot the traffic use the current route down Darwen Street from Higher Church Street to Jubilee Street and then via Bridge Street and George Street instead of the newly-paved Church Street?
For, according to the council's notice, traffic will continue round the Boulevard and down Bridge Street and George Street after leaving Church Street in any case.
After all, there will not be any buses running through Jubilee Street after the stated starting time of 23.59pm so that any traffic on Jubilee Street should flow freely.
I think that all this proves is that it was wrong to close Church Street. It has never really become pedestrianised completely since it was supposedly closed. Is it to be used as a thoroughfare every time there are road works in the Darwen Street area?
