A DRUNKEN man arrested by police got upset when officers took him to the station -- and not a man he complained had attacked him.

Burnley Magistrates heard how Darren Paul Robinson, 25, came off worse and had got a black eye. He was abusive to police and told them: "I know where you live."

Robinson, of Shackleton Street, Burnley, admitted being drunk and disorderly.

He was given a 12 months conditional discharge, with £55 costs.

Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said around 3.10am the defendant had been warned by officers to make his way home after Club 53 closed in Burnley.

He then made a grab for another man, who moved out of the way and the defendant crashed to the ground.

Robinson got up, was unsteady on his feet and was told to go home and not come back. The defendant said he was not going anywhere and abused the police.

Richard Taylor, defending, said Robinson had been attacked, complained to police and was told to move on his way.

He did not like the advice he had been given and tried to get hold of the person who assaulted him to show him to officers.

He was upset when his attacker was not arrested.
