PEOPLE who want to help improve their environment are being encouraged to apply for grants which are available until the end of March.
Money is available from the Shanks First Fund which support projects in Burnley and Rossendale.
Over the last six years Shanks, which owns Deerplay Landfill , Burnley, has provided £50million for projects throughout the UK, under the landfill tax credit scheme.
A number of amenities around Bacup have been transformed to reflect the historic significance of the town, including the sensory garden at Wayside and the popular heritage trail.
Martin Profit from Groundwork Rossendale said: "Without the financial support from the Shanks First Fund, the worthwhile projects in Bacup would not have been possible. The projects have encouraged members of the community to have a say in what goes on in Bacup and have made a big impact on regenerating the town centre. "
The landfill tax credit scheme is currently being reformed, but the Shanks First Fund still has money available for a variety of projects.
Closing date for applications is March 31. To find out more or apply for funds, email info@shanksfirst.org.uk or ring 01908 632810.
