A STALKER who twice sexually attacked a woman has been cleared of a third assault on her.

Mohsin Khan, 21, was found not guilty of an allegation of indecent assault by a Burnley Crown Court jury after a three-day trial. The panel had yesterday convicted him of two indecency charges.

Khan, of Stanley Street, Nelson, had denied all the charges and claimed the woman had been happy for a sexual encounter with him.

Judge Raymond Bennett ordered psychiatric reports and the case was adjourned for eight weeks.

Jonathan Dickinson, prosecuting, had told the court Khan, who was obsessed with the woman, later "lied through his teeth" to the police.

He had partly stalked her, followed her, dragged her into a back alley and pinned her against a wall.

Khan was later questioned by police but then went to Pakistan while on bail.

He returned, was rebailed, but was last November arrested at Manchester Airport, heading for a new life so he would not be picked by his victim on an identity parade.

He told the court he had been going back to Pakistan when arrested because he had been accused of making a girl pregnant and he had wanted to sort it out. He claimed he had intended to come back.

Khan said he had not co-operated with the police when questioned because he was not getting any answers either. They were asking him stupid questions and he wanted out.

He told the jury days afterwards he was admitted to hospital because he might have done something dangerous and wanted to see a psychiatrist.
