BOSSES at East Lancashire tour operator MyTravel plc today moved to quash rumours about hundreds of potential redundancies within the group.
The travel giant, formerly Airtours, said it was still in consultation with staff, despite widespread rumours about job losses at its Helmshore and Rochdale sites.
MyTravel, which also operates from Accrington's Globe Centre in Scaitcliffe Street, announced there could be 700 redundancies nationwide in February.
But employees at Helmshore said they were called into a meeting yesterday to be told they would hear about job losses there tomorrow.
The company lost £72 million last year and its shares have slumped to an all-time low of 11p. They were worth £2 each last year.
The company's founder and chairman David Crossland, from Burnley, retired last week.
