CHILDREN from urban areas in East Lancashire are flocking to country parks to learn more about the environment.
Workshops putting nature under the microscope are proving so popular that Beacon Fell Country Park, Goosnargh, has a waiting list of participants.
Judy Campbell-Ricketts, Lancashire County Council's countryside information officer, launched the workshops as a trial last summer and said they were proving a huge success.
"They have really taken off. Many children who live in towns are unaware of the countryside and it is these children who are clamouring to take part."
A Signs of Spring workshop a the country Park on March 1 for children aged four to 11 is already booked up, as is the Nature Club at Wycoller Country Park, Colne, on March 15.
But other events are being lined up to cope with the demand, such as nature walks and arts and crafts days.
Further information and bookings are available from Judy Campbell-Ricketts on 01995 640557.
