BURNLEY will be hit by an automatic £5,000 fine from the Football Association having had six players booked at Millwall on Tuesday night.

But club secretary Cathy Pickup confirmed this morning: "We will fight it all the way."

Manager Stan Ternent was furious about the performance of referee Mark Cooper, who has now booked ten Burnley players in two games this season.

The fact that the club will be hit in the pocket is not going to make him any happier as money remains tight at Turf Moor despite the Cup exploits.

An FA spokesperson confirmed this morning: "When a first division club has six players booked in one match, they are automatically fined £5,000."

Ternent's blast against Cooper may also end with him facing a charge from the FA who are always keen to protect their officials but there has been no complaint at this stage.

The six players who were shown the yellow card were Ian Cox, Glen Little, Paul Weller, Dean West, Gareth Taylor and Tony Grant, the midfielder the last in the book in injury time ensuring the fine.

Taylor's yellow card, his second from Mr Cooper and tenth in total, means he will miss two games, Grimsby Town at home and either Leicester at Turf Moor or an FA Cup replay against Watford.
