NEW street lighting is set to be installed in Aspull following complaints about safety from residents.
Alleyways linking St David's, St John's, St Elizabeth's and St Mary's Roads are poorly lit according to residents, who say they are reluctant to walk down them after nightfall.
A Wigan Council grant of £12,000 means 12 new street lights will be brought into the area.
A police spokesman said: "We have received numerous complaints about these alleyways, and we are sure that the improved lighting will be a big step in reducing crime and anti-social behaviour in these locations."
