I WOULD like to know why Family Allowance is paid if you are poor or rich. Why is the heating allowance paid to the poor and rich? Also, free TV licences are granted to over 75s whether they are poor or rich.

Why aren't these benefits means-tested like pensions are?

This country is a land of plenty for asylum seekers who are housed, get benefits and free dental treatment and eye care.

We who have worked all our lives have paid our stamps and taxes -- for what? A pittance of a pension.

I can't wait for my £2 rise in April -- which will go on an increased council tax when the bill comes through the post.

I know where my vote goes at the next election.
