FOUR people were arrested and a quantity of drugs believed to be heroin and cannabis was seized during dawn raids on houses across Pendle.

Warrants were executed in six addresses in the borough as part of an on-going scheme to tackle drug users and dealers in the borough.

One man was charged with the possession of drugs with intent to supply and was due to appear at Burnley magistrates court this morning.

The operation was part of Lancashire Constabulary's Safer Streets Initiative, which uses information gathered from local residents.

Inspector Chris Bithell said: "As promised, we are continuing our activities as part of Safer Streets and the raids yesterday were very successful."
