A MAN found hanged in a Nelson park yesterday may have been the victim of an "assisted suicide".
Police said their investigation was focused on finding out whether someone helped Andrew Forrester take his own life.
Mr Forrester, 30, was found hanging from a basketball post in Walverden Park, off Brunswick Street. Ambulance crews said he was dead when they arrived at 2am.
A 23-year-old man, whose name has not been released by police, was arrested in connection with the incident and interviewed yesterday.
Members of Mr Forrester's family, who live in Nelson, have been informed of the death by police.
A spokesman said: "We are investigating the possibility that Mr Forrester's death was an assisted suicide."
