I WRITE regarding the possibility of extending the licensing laws by one hour so that pubs can open at 10am.

It is not that I object to the pubs opening earlier but surely, if there is going to be any change in the laws, we should be applying it to the end of the day not the beginning.

Isn't it time we brought ourselves in line with the rest of Europe, and most of the rest of the world, and allowed publicans to open whenever they like, within reason. I would like the opportunity for an extra drink after 11pm without having to resort to wandering off to some pokey club full of school kids sipping Alcopops.

According to the Bury Times the town's licensing committee want the public to have their say. Well, now they will know where I stand. As for the people who dreamed up the idea of an extra hour in the morning, I think they may have had one too many the night before!
