REGARDING the Action Plan for redeveloping Morecambe, those behind this project are seeking the justification of tick-box consultation democracy in support.
They consist mainly of people who were involved in earlier schemes that have squandered millions, and the politicians among them have mostly reached a stage in their careers where they have made them-selves virtually non-re-electable.
Does the public really want the creation of sinecure posts for unelectable politicians sitting on boards distributing largesse under new schemes?
Similarly the promoters of the project for a regional assembly are calling on tick-box consult-ation democracy in justification. They are manipulating local pride to trick an assent to federalism and the chief advocate of the scheme is a politician who, having worked in two assemblies, already seems hopeful now to set up a third which might admit him.
