DOUBLE Seasiders player of the year John Hills is set for a leap into the unknown at the end of the season after snubbing a new contract at Bloomfield Road.
The club has withdrawn its offer to Hills and say there is no more money on the table for the left-sided ace.
That means the Lytham based 24-year-old would be available on a free-transfer in the summer, and he will be searching for a new club, with Oldham Athletic one name mentioned.
However, he has been warned that if no club comes in for him any Blackpool return would be on greatly reduced terms.
A disappointed Hill said this week: "I was on a good contract when I came from Everton and that contract was more than I am on now so I have never been greedy.
"I don't want people remembering that, I want them to remember that I have done the best I can for Blackpool FC, I have won two player of the seasons here and off the pitch I have done lots for charities, visited children in hospital done loads of presentations and that is what I want to be remembered for.
"I am a Blackpool boy and I will see what happens, I have said to the chairman and manager what I expect and what I think is reasonable, I don't think I am being greedy so if they can't match that then, maybe I will have to look elsewhere."
Hills is the latest high-profile player to fall victim to Blackpool's tough line on contract rebels. Steve Bushell found himself out of league football after snubbing the Seasiders in 2001, though Marvin Bryan, who turned down a contract two years previously, found himself in the first division with Rotherham.
The news will give three other out of contract players plenty of food for though. Martin Bullock is still in talks over a new deal, and has indicated that he would like to stay. Blackpool also have an option to extend his current contract by another year.
Talks are also taking place with versatile teenager, Danny Coid.
The final member of that trio is Richie Wellens. The former Manchester United midfielder is being pressed for a decision on a new deal. As he is under 24, Wellens, like Coid, would command a transfer fee were he to leave the club.
The likes of John O'Kane, Jamie Milligan and Graham Fenton all reach the end of their contracts in June, and the club has yet to announce whether they are to be offered new deals.
