Prestwich Heys...2
Wilmslow Albion...2
PRESTWICH Heys' home form in recent weeks has been their downfall and so it proved again as they dropped two valuable points.
They allowed a ten-man Wilmslow side to retrieve a point from a seemingly impossible situation.
The onyl absentee from Heys regular squad was recently married Abid Uddin, otherwise it was a full strength team.
They made their intentions clear in the first half as they attempted to dominate the game. Wilmslow though, in their debut season in the Premier Division, are a tough side to play against and the game was deadlocked until Heys opened the scoring in the 25th minute.
Love made a forceful run across the Wilmslow back line and as the ball ran loose Jeff Kavanagh was on hand to slot the ball into the net.
Two minutes before the break, Heys doubled their lead when they were awarded a penalty in somewhat dubious circumstances.
A red card was issued after the referee ruled deliberate hand ball, although it appeared to hit the player on the shoulder. Lyons scored from the spot.
Heys wasted plenty of chances to wrap the game -- and the points -- up and as the game entered the final ten minutes it appeared they had got away with it.
Flanagan pulled a goal back for Albion to set the alarm bells ringing and the consternation deepened in the Heys ranks minutes later when Walters headed into his own net.
PRESTWICH HEYS: Rooney, Norton, Brierley, Walters, Massey, Lyons, J Kavanagh, Love, Denham, Orrell, Garrick. Substitutes: Stokes, K Kavanagh, Mercer.
Heys Reserves travel to play Wilmslow Albion tomorrow.
