BURY and Radcliffe Sea Cadets are on the crest of a wave as they celebrate their 60th anniversary this year.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Bury, Councillors John and Stella Smith, joined them at their Marsden Street base in Bury for the annual presentation evening.

The Sea Cadet Corps is open to boys and girls aged 12 to 18 who want to do something different with their time, learn new skills and meet new friends. A Junior Section has recently been started for 10 to 12-year-olds. They will train in a similar way to the older cadets, learn sailing and boat work, wear a uniform and take part in civic parades in the town.

Anyone interested in joining should call 763 3661 or 01204 708803.
