AWAY wins have been like the proverbial buses -- they're a long time coming but when they do, two come at once!
The performances at Sheffield Wednesday and Watford were not the best of the season by any means, but it's the results that matter.
And the six points picked up from these two fixtures must surely remove any lingering doubts about PNE being dragged into the relegation fight.
At Sheffield after soaking up earlier pressure PNE took control of the game, and in the second half in particular, we were never in any real danger.
Big George had his best game yet laying on the goal for Cresswell, and Simon Lynch looked good after being brought on as "sub".
The home side had little to offer apart from ex-North Ender Barry Murphy kicking a corner flag in half!
On Tuesday night another strange refereeing decision turned the game, this time in our favour. Dean Dyke was adjudged to have fouled Chris Lucketti, and the referee awarded a penalty.
Graham Alexander stepped up to smash the ball into the Watford net to the delight of the away fans behind the goal.
Dyche was booked for his procrastinations, and in the 32nd minute a melee in the Preston penalty box was followed by a second yellow for Dyche and off he went.
Preston then seemed content to hold on to their lead and the second half was something of a non-event to say the least.
But a win's a win and the travelling fans went home happy with that.
