THE parents of a man thought to be the victim of an assisted suicide today said their world had been turned upside down as mystery still surrounded his death.
Heavy metal music fan Andrew Forrester, 30, was found hanging from a basketball post in Walverden Park, Brunswick Street, Nelson.
Police believe Andrew could have been the victim of an "assisted suicide".
A 23-year-old Nelson man has been released on bail while police continue their investigations.
Andrew's parents, Ian and Violet, of Primet Heights, Colne, today said their lives will never be the same again after losing their only son.
Ian, 57, a security officer at Job Centre Plus, Colne, said: "It was brilliant to have him home.
"If I was given a penny for everytime I had to shout up to him to turn his music down I would have been a rich man but now we would do anything to hear that again."
Andrew was brought up in Melbourne, Australia, until he was five, before the family decided to move back to Colne because they could not settle.
Violet, 56, said: "Andrew went back when he was in the fifth year at school for eight weeks and he loved it, one thing we will always think about is whether things would have been different if we had stayed in Australia, it's the saddest time of our lives.
"We all loved him so much we were so proud of him, I just wish he was here now to tell him that."
Andrew, a former Walton High School pupil, was a keen artist, and had a picture published in 1996 after being asked to create an image for a book entitled 'Walks in Yorkshire'.
He was a fan of rock band Metallica and went to see them regularly at the Donnington Park Monsters of Rock festivals after gathering a collection of hundreds of CDs, LPs and memorabilia.
Andrew, who won apprentice of the year at Graham Engineering, Colne, as a fabricator, moved back in with his mum and dad last year when he split from his girlfriend.
He will be buried with the Metallica LP, For Whom the Bell Tolls, and a picture of band members.
His favourite song, The Unforgiven by Metallica, will be played at the funeral which is being organised by Helliwells Funeral Services to take place at Holy Trinity Church, Colne.
There will be family flowers only and donations will go to charity which has yet to be decided.
Detective Inspector Ruth Chew said: "A 23-year-old man has been released on police bail pending further inquiries and investigations."
